Courtney Dillard, a Democrat, has announced an exploratory committee for a possible challenge against US Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) in the Fourth Congressional District.
The newly re-drawn district now includes parts of DeKalb, Gwinnett, and Rockdale Counties.
Dillard nearly won a seat on the Rockdale County Commission in 2010, receiving 47.5 percent of the vote in the General Election.
"My decision to explore a candidacy for this particular office is grounded in my deep commitment to God, our great nation, the people, and a strong desire to create a powerful--prosperous 4th Congressional District. I believe that I am the better choice to match the values and needs of the voters in this District with key opportunities that lie ahead," Dillard said in a press release.
According to a report in the Rockdale News in 2010, Dillard has previously been arrested for cocaine use, had to perform community service after being arrested for child battery, and was arrested for writing a bad check.

Wow. Someone who is potentially more embarrassing than Hank Johnson. My God, isn't there a decent, reasonably intelligent, sane person to represent the half million people in this district?
Don't believe everything you read. The Rockdale News political reporting on that race was extremely shoddy and racially biased. If those reports were true Courtney Dillard would have been blown out--it would not have been a competitive race.
